Lakeside Park and Rose Garden is so beautiful, any time of year. It was the perfect place for an early spring anniversary session! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this sweet sweet couple! They were the very first to trust me to capture their wedding day, so it seems so appropriate that their was the first anniversary session I’ve captured. As I drove to their session, I realized a couple things… While I’ve been blessed to photograph Brock and Alyssa several times, we had never had a session alone together! and I didn’t really know their love story….
As my first wedding, I didn’t really think of an engagement session. Now that seems crazy, but back then I was just busy learning everything I possibly could about shooting a wedding. They knew they were my first wedding, they were certain, that yes they wanted me to photograph their wedding. I knew they had entrusted me with something huge, I was humbled, honored and way more nervous than I was on my own wedding day! So I made it my main focus to learn as much as I could about photographing a wedding before their big day! Wedding party posing, bride and groom posing, detail shots, the flow of the day…… I did everything I could think of to NOT disappoint them! And when their wedding day rolled around, I had a blast with them, their family and closest friends on their big day!
They arrived at Lakeside Park looking fantastic and it was like seeing old friends. We talked about how while we had done family pictures together and bride and groom time on their wedding day; we’d never had a whole photo session, just the two of them. Alyssa shared that was one of the reasons she was so excited to have an anniversary session! Finally they would have an entire photo session of just the two of them!
We walked around Lakeside Park and Rose Garden enjoying the warm weather and early spring blooms. Laughing and joking about all the flags that surely were there to designate landscape planting. We caught up. I loved hearing about Alyssa’s new (at least new to me) job, how it came about, and the exciting plans that come with her position. We had an entire conversation about Alyssa’s amazing purse. It was a gift from her fabulous mom and it hold everything! They shared the fun new things their sweet daughter is doing.
Three years into their marriage and they seem to delight in each other every bit as much as they did on their wedding day. Their session was filled with laughter. I loved capturing them laughing together and enjoying each other. Alyssa and Brock you are always such a joy! Thank you so much for entrusting me to capture your wedding day, which lead me to discover my passion for wedding photography. Thank you for hanging out with me for an evening to capture an anniversary session!
As for their love story…. they met in college. We got distracted and talked about so many other things that the rest of the story, that will have to wait until another day…..
Enjoy a peak into their full filled anniversary session…
