Drummer Senior Session

I’m so excited to share this drummer senior session with you!  Remember just last week when I was warm and sunny?  Carson was so fortunate that his senior session was scheduled for that day!  By far the nicest weather day of spring break!  Carson has been playing the drums since middle school.  So of course drums were by far the most important element for him to incorporate into his senior session.

 

Carson also loves nature.  It was a natural choice for his session to be at our local state park.  I met up with Carson and his mom Monday of Spring Break.  I’ve known Carson’s mom for years and had met and photographed Carson before.   We quickly fell into easy conversation and catching up.  Like most guys, Carson was very laid back about his senior pictures.  Carson wanted to capture some images with his drum set, and then whatever his mom wanted.  They seriously are such sweet people and a joy to work with!

 

To begin shooting, we started with some fun shots to get warmed up, and capture images that are great for to use in the yearbook. I love when the schools let seniors use their own images for the yearbook!  It makes it so much more personal!  Carson has such a sweet smiles, and it was fun capturing it in the early session images.

 

Featured Drum Solo

Next we set off to decide on the best location to capture Carson with his drum set.   We thought we’d need to put his drum set on a paved area.  However we  were lucky to find nice flat surface with good lighting that wasn’t muddy!  Not muddy, grassy area was a huge unexpected bonus!  Carson, his mom and I unloaded his drum set, and carried each piece to the photo location.  Carson had the drum set assembled and ready to play in no time.

 

I asked him to have fun playing as I captured him from several angles.   You can clearly see his joy and alternately intensity in playing throughout the images.  Carson is a fabulous drummer!  I loved the private concert he gave his mom and I as I snapped pictures.  He saved up over time and purchased his drum set about a year ago when it was on sale.  He slowly added other items as he saved and watched for sales.  Definitely a great investment for this musician who aspire to be a future high school band director.
