Alysia +  Bret

Bret & Alysia are married!  They celebrated their big day on the beautiful grounds of his parent’s home. I absolutely loved this for so many reasons– it’s sentimental, absolutely gorgeous & less than five miles from my own home.  It doesn’t get more convenient than that!  The numerous trees and rolling hills of their property, were fabulous–I’m still swooning over this location!

Bret & Alysia kept the day very relaxed and so they could focus on enjoying those closest to them.  They had a small private ceremony next to the grape arbor in the backyard, where her sister and two best friends stood next to her.  They also included his two young sons and special tree ceremony to commemorate the blending of their lives. A large gathering of friends and family arrived later to celebrate them at their reception.  Alysia’s ability to take every day items and arrange them in such a way as to show off the beauty of simplicity, was amazing!  The details were so fun to capture!

After the ceremony, Bret & Alysia walked me to the spot on his parent’s property where they had a special meaning to them. I captured some sweet photos as they reminisced about the memory of one of their first dates.

One of my favorite parts of living in a small community is how people are so connected to each other.  When Bret contacted me about photographing their wedding, I immediately recognized his last name.  His mom taught my oldest math in first grade, and his dad worked with my husband years ago before retiring.  So in addition to getting to know this special couple, during dinner I briefly caught up with several teachers from my children’s elementary years.  My husband also enjoyed catching up with his former co-worker.

Bret & Alysia I am so honored that you asked me to capture your special day.  Your, by design, “nontraditional” day was absolutely beautiful and filled with so much joy and love!  Thank you for the opportunity to share in it!   Here are a few of my favorites!
