Wedding Flowers & Bouquets

Choosing your wedding flowers!  Oh how I love flowers, so many colors, textures and shapes.  The options are almost endless.  So how do you know where to start when choosing flowers for your wedding?  Becky Geary of R Geary Floral Design, created some of the most beautiful wedding florals I have ever seen.  I was absolutely thrilled when she accepted the invitation to be a part of this blog series.

Let me tell you a little about R Geary Floral Designs.  They specialize in wedding and event floral applications, with an emphasis on personalized service.  Becky is a certified florist with over 10 years of experience.  She shared her professional insight to help you in planning your wedding.   She was so kind to also provide two absolutely beautiful bouquets for me to photograph for this blog series!  Not only is Becky an amazing floral designer, she is also very kind and easy to work with.

Becky shared that:

“When should a couple book their florist?”

Becky explained a bit about the process she guides couples through in choosing their wedding flowers.

“Choose your florist approximately 6 months before your wedding date.”  R Geary Floral likes to meet with brides “after their dress and bridesmaids dresses are chosen.    This gives me a sense of their style.  Ball gown, mermaid, train or not it is all considered for the shape and style of the bouquets.  The color of the bridesmaids dresses also determines the type of flowers to be chosen. ”  

“The Venue also is a consideration. Is it elegant with chandeliers or rustic barn setting? An area with open beams for instance would be a good fit for some tables that have tall centerpieces to enhance the tall ceilings and balance the space. Floral chandeliers and garlands are another application that can turn a building into a spectacular oasis.”

As you work toward your desired look,  ” Trusting your florist is important to acquire the best varieties of flowers available in season that will assure the best results.”

Tying up the details

In the last month before your wedding,  expect to meet with many of your vendors to finalize the details.

R Geary Floral recommends a ” follow-up appointment 30 days before the the wedding to finalize the details.  If reception decorations are involved, investing in samples for this meeting is recommended to assure satisfaction. “
