Gail and Alex’s fall wedding at Geoglein’s Homestead was infused with personality. I was honored when Gail contacted me before she even booked a venue! She met with venues and we kept in close contact to make sure she could have the wedding vednor team of her dreams.
Soon after her date and venue were set, Gail began kinitting her wedding shawl! I think it’s safe to say it was a labor of love and patience. Gail has been knitting since she was 9 years old, but this pattern was very intricate with lots of detail. She tore out stitches, started up again, recruited Alex to help her count stitches. As she donned the shawl on her wedding day, it was all worth it! She did an amazing job and looked beautiful wearing her hand knit wedding shawl, in her favorite colors of purple and mustard yellow.
Gail chose sunflowers (her favorite) to be the center of her boquet and other decor. Sunflowers are such a great reflection of her fun-loving sunny personality. Alex also chose to reflect his personality in his details. He was delighted to find ties with small dinosaurs on them! I didn’t ask how long he had to look for them, but he loved them! Of course, he also included a tie clip that was a gift from Gail on their first anniversary. On the back of Alex tie was a small picture of him and his mom. This detail absolutely took my breath away, as Alex had very recently lost his mom.
Gail had a sixpence in one shoe and a family heriloom coin in the other. The heirloom coin was carried through Europe by her great grandfather during World War II. Both Gail and her father carried the coin through Europe when they each traveled there. Gail is named after this grandfather adding another layer of connection to the story.
Alex and Gail met in college at a ballroom dance club on campus. Talk about a fun first dance! Gail and Alex didn’t share a slow intimate first dance as husband and wife, they gave the crowd a performance to remember! Quite appropriately, Gail choose a wedding dress with lots of fullness and flair! I loved gettting her to show it off during bridal photos!
Alex’s mom never had the chance to give Gail the necklace below, but what a blessing to find it before here wedding day. I can’t even begin to image the emotions.
