Today’s the day! It’s finally here! Your wedding day! It’s almost time to enjoy all the work you’ve put in planning and preparing over the last few months! Last night you enjoyed the rehearsal dinner and time with your closest friends and family. Today EVERYONE will gather to celebrate and celebrate your wedding day with you! And that means you’ll want some Family Formals.
Days like this are once in a lifetime and that means, you’ll want bride and groom pictures and wedding party pictures of course. You’ll also want pictures of ALL the loved ones who have gathered to celebrate with you. If your family is like ours, very large extended-extended family members don’t all gather together very often. But how do you make the time to capture pictures of this larger group of people?
We have a system in place that makes capturing these special family formal pictures a quick and seamless part of the day. In the last few months before your wedding we’ll meet and finalize timeline details. During our meeting we’ll talk about family formals and ask you to send a list before the wedding day. This is key!
On your wedding day, someone should be in charge of communicating the details to family members. This can be the officiant at the end of the ceremony or an appointed family member on each side. They should make sure family members know to stay and where to meet for family formals. This is especially important if your ceremony and reception are in different locations.
Once everyone is gathered for family formals we’ll put your list to good use. This usually involves Joe (my husband and awesome second shooter) along with a friend or family member, who knows the guests by name, organizing groups while I snap away. We’ll knock the family formals out in thirty minutes. You’ll have those awesome photos to remember ALL of the family that came to celebrate with you, and still have plenty of time to enjoy your reception!
It’s always nice when we have time to capture just mom and dad too!
Before you know it you’re on your way to your reception!
