Save the Date!

Sending out Save the Dates are important for a few different reasons.  Save the dates are  especially important to send out many of your guests will be from out of town.   Save the dates are typically sent at least six months before the wedding date.  This gives guest plenty of time to prepare for travel–book their flights, secure a hotel room, etc.

It’s helpful to out of town guest if you include information on local hotels you recommend, or where you have a block of rooms reserved.

Schedules, schedules, schedules

Sending out save the dates allow your guests plan their schedules so they can be part of your big day.  If your wedding is around the same time as school breaks (spring, fall, etc.), people will be planning their family vacations and will need to know to schedule around your wedding.

Besides vacation, every day commitments could pop up between now and the time that your wedding invitations are sent (usually about two months prior to the wedding).  Sending out Save the Dates gives your guests the opportunity to pencil you into their schedules.make sure your big day is a priority on their calendar.

Save the dates are also an awesome opportunity to show off your wonderful engagement pictures!  There are many different ways you can use your photos for save the dates.  Here are just a few examples:

  • You can send out cards , there are different sizes and options, galore!
  • You could opt to send out postcards instead and not have to deal with the envelopes.
  • Turn your photos into Save the Date magnets. This is great because your guests can place it on their fridge and have a constant reminder of your date.
  • You can also turn your photos into other fun things you can use at your wedding – like a guest book or signing poster, etc.
